Born Jonathan Christopher Koney, he is a silent achiever! Chris Koney, as he is widely known, is a self-motivated person and a young African with the dream of changing the world around him. A seasoned Integrated Marketing Communications Professional and International Cooperation Specialist, he has vast working experience across several sectors; Media and Broadcasting, Public Relations, Telecommunication and Investor Relations.
In the last fifteen years, Chris has made tremendous impact, developing the African creative arts, cultural and music ecosystem whilst working with two multinational companies. He managed various key projects by Viacom Networks (BET, MTV, MTV Base), the then prominent American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate with interest primarily in film and television and served as in - country coordinator (Ghana) for Channel O.

He previously worked with the Customer Experience team at Vodafone Ghana and served as Senior Media Officer at Charterhouse Productions before joining pan-African cable television company, MultiChoice Ghana (DStv and GOtv) as the Public Relations and Publicity Executive. Chris moved to Groupe Nduom, a privately held business group with operations in Africa, Europe and America before being appointed as the Head of Communications for the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) Africa. He later joined Ghana's leading media conglomerate, Media General as Group Head of Corporate Affairs. He currently leads International Cooperation at the Ghana Export Import Bank.
Over the last decade, Chris has successfully managed relationships with Diplomatic Missions, International Finance Institutions, Development Finance Institutions, played a leading role in fundraising and assisted businesses to navigate the complexities of International Trade. As a thought leader in Brand, Talent and Stakeholder Relationship Management, he strongly believes in adopting strategic communication, tailor-made marketing solutions and deploying innovation and technology to achieve organizational effectiveness.
Chris participated in the Summer School of the Czech Diplomatic Academy in the Czech Republic and successfully completed the Investment Promotion for African Countries programme by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was recognized by the Peruvian Embassy in Ghana in 2022 and extolled by the City of Toronto, Canada for excellence achieved in his fields of endeavor.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic selected Chris to participate in the Young African Leaders' Study Tour in the Czech Republic dubbed "Cool Czechia". In 2022, Chris was honoured by the Embassy of Peru in Ghana for his selfless dedication towards the promotion of a positive image of Peru in the Ghanaian media. The Netherlands and U.S. Governments selected him for the 2019 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in The Hague, during which he participated in a one-week Press Visitors Programme for selected media and communications professionals around the world.
Very passionate about writing, Chris has for over the last ten years been a columnist in the Business and Financial Times newspaper and contributes articles to various magazines and lifestyle portals around the world on International Relations, Diplomacy, Business as well as Socio - Cultural issues. He holds a Master of Arts degree (Public Relations) from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree (Philosophy & History) from the University of Ghana.
